No more struggling now as the world’s leading IT giant Microsoft comes to your aid. Cheers ! Chem4word : a Chemistry add-in for Microsoft Office Word 2010 and 2007 – Empowering students, teachers, and chemists to easily author documents in the language of chemistry.
So, what actually is Chem4word ?
Chemistry is not just a specific language, but also has specific symbols and conventions. By giving these symbols meaning, the Chem4word enables chemistry documents to easily convey this meaning across technologies and file formats.
Why one needs it ?
Every discipline has its own language. And being able to communicate and collaborate in a discipline-specific language is essential to scientific research, especially in an environment characterized by staggering volumes of data. So, one definitely needs it.
Tell me more about it…….
The Chemistry Add-in for Word makes it easier to insert and modify chemical information, such as labels, formulas, and 2-D depictions, within Microsoft Office Word.
Chem4Word incorporates Chemical Markup Language (XML for chemistry) to realize the semantic-based chemical authoring tool that enables both human and machine to understand the underlying semantics of the documented chemistry.
Additionally, it enables the creation of inline “chemical zones,” the rendering of print-ready visual depictions of chemical structures.
What about the price ! The powerful Chemistry Add-In for Word is an open source project and hence available free-of-charge.
Well, I am definitely impressed! How can I get one on my PC?
