“Men’s natures are alike; it is their twitters that separate them”.
With twitter being so popular no doubt some rogues would try their hands at it.
Twitter Spamming Applications
You need to be vigilant about the third-party apps that you allow to access your twitter account.
A careless wrong choice can easily land you in trouble. Don’t be surprised if you find the bad guys are spamming tweets out in your name without your permission.
You should know that any twitter app can send tweets on behalf of you once you grant access to it.
However, you should not be afraid of the good and legitimate apps that have access to your Twitter account.
Will you not be tempted when you see a tweet like “free iPhone 4 offers or tools to help you find out who had unfollowed your Twitter account“.
Twitter had recently said that it was facing a “unfollowing bug”. Taking advantage of this, spammers tweet offering a way to monitor who has unfollowed you on Twitter. This would make many fall into the trap.
List of some of the known spam apps
1>> Unfollow Monitor App v1.0
2>> Who Unfollowed You v2.9
3>> Tweet Statistics App v1.0
4>> Unfollow Stats App v1.3
5>> Tweet Info App 1.3
6>> Twit Stats App v1.2
7>> Unfollow Details App v1.1
How to revoke these spam apps?
If you feel you have one of these apps in your twitter account, revoke it immediately.
To Revoke :
1>> Visit your twitter account.
2>> Click on the Settings/Apps option.
3>> And click on the “Revoke access” of the corresponding app to remove it.
So Next Time – Careful !!
Be careful next time before giving access to any of the untrusted third-party apps.
No one will give iPhone or iPad for free. Atleast not till it costs $10 per piece.
So never ever click on such tweets.
If any of your followers or friends complain that your account is sending continuous spam tweets which you’re not aware of, don’t panic thinking that your twitter account is hacked. Instead, just revoke access of the spam applications and relax.
